Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber are finally back with a new album. It's been two years
in the making, and the double set represent two sides of the groups personality. The first set
is in the way we know Tosca from their last long player Suzuki. Huber and Dorfmeister here
come up trumps adding a dark edge to the fusion of classical dubbed jazz, with a lot of grooves
in soft satin, spanning the spectrum from smoked out downtempo to nice crisp uptempo. And they
never let you get lost as they take you on a journey with loads of different flavours, modes and
styles that are still stamped with their signature; smooth Vienna roasted sound.
On Dehli9 Tosca are joined by a set of guest vocalists. Anna Clementi recaptures the
magic she added to Tosca's earlier Suzuki in three tracks, the haunting "Me & Yoko Ono"
set to be classic. The always-excellent Earl Zinger adds a touch of gruff, and the rest of the
vocals come from MC's Sugar B, Graf Hadik and Tweed.
The second set (and disc two) is about as chilled as you can get, atmospheric dub scapes built
around spare piano parts. This is a result of Dormeisters remixing, rearranging, supplying sound
effects and adding dub to Hubers self-composed piano tracks, and it sounds definitely for those
evenings when you want to turn lights down real low.
All in all Tosca's Dehli9 is a dark, sonic must I'm sure will stand the test of time.
