Some Words About Being Tired On The Trail Singing
Something To Talk About
It's cooling you know, just hearing the water. Not even seeing it, let alone touch it. I'm
dragging my feet and the squirrels and chipmunks make it look so easy; they skirmish and dervish
around us like Disney - Roboscope and all. The Never Summer Mountains are behind us and it's hot
enough for me.
I don't know if it's the altitude or not, but my dreams were weird too. One night, on Timber
Creek in a tent, I dreamt about the Badly Drawn Boy. In this dream, Badly was down about not
having sold more records. Which I scoffed at saying something about how most musicians dream of
success like his. I pointed out Badly Drawn Bubblegum as an example. That's right : Badly Drawn
Merchandise.
So I wake up with "Something to Talk About" in my head. Days and miles away from the record
and my player, it's perfectly represented in my head like a Wurlitzer. Soon, I'm on the trail
and singing with the critters like in Snow White. Mmmm...
