Geraldine
Pure Bastard Rock
Orange Recordings
Ready for some bluesy, speedy, mean, and dirty punk'n'roll? Geraldine, a four-piece out of
Athens, Ohio present their debut album, Pure Bastard Rock. Expect power and energy. And,
yes, just to let you know: the album title and its content fits like hand in glove. Full steam
from the kick-start.
Geraldine have toured all over the US (plus Canada and Mexico), visiting every hell-hole
holding a stage, according to the press-sheet. Matt Harvey (vocals, harp), Chris Burget (guitar),
Scott Winland (bass, vocals), and Maceo Gabbard (drums) give everythig as they stumble through
their reportoir, with influences from early Chicago blues, the late 60s British invasion of
R'n'B and garage, as well as the punk stamina of the 70s and eraly 80s. Their head first down
the stairs type music surely makes you wanna grab another beer, or, even better, Tequilas. Rapidly.
Songs like Feeling at Home, B-Team, Come On Down, and Shoulda Known
stand out on an album that'll make your armpits and ears sweat. Pure Bastard Rock is
recorded with Jim Waters, who's been working with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Sonic Youth,
and Boss Hog.
So if you're into Howlin' Wolf, Yardbirds, the Sonics, Stooges/Iggy Pop, MC5, Dictators,
Minutemen, to namedrop some, well, here's an explosive mixture. Have a sip of Geraldine.
Straight, no ice. Sissynecks stay clear.
To be released March 27th.
