Welcome to House of Norway. Tellé Records, Bergen, has released a handful of limited edition 7" singles over the last 2 years, and some of the tracks are to be found on this album simply called Samleplate (Compilation Album).

Samleplate presents some of the profiles of the Norwegian house and dance scene, with names such as Bjørn Torske, Erot, Röyksopp and Frost (Aggie Peterson). Not all the tracks are of fine grain quality, at least for these ears. Then I must admit this music is a bit off my regular path. Anyway, the album opens with the excellentNikita by Ralph Myers & The Jack Herren Band. A tune including what I'd call "French 60's film vocal", which is perfect for some relaxed clubbing. Aggie Frost Peterson's song Endless Love (done in co-operation with Rune Lindbæk and Torbjørn Brundtland of the Drum Island/Those Norwegians "collective") has been out as a single earlier, and this is one of the mixes. Frost has got a frosty (uh...) but warm voice, and it's an up-beat song for the dance floor. Annie sings a real pop-killer called The Greatest Hit, written by boyfriend (?) Erot, who contributes with his own disco-beat track Song for Annie. Röksopp is represented with a live (oh, yeah?) version of 64-Position - a good portion of Kraftwerkish disco. Krila Deluxe sums up the record nicely with their cool Soma. And, well, after some spinning this CD's catching up.

This might be one of the most wanted Norwegian records abroad this year Believe the hype. A chilling and rhythmical collection for sweaty dancing through hot summer nights (or even cold winter nights). Best tracks: Ralph Myers, Annie, and Krila Deluxe. Check Tellé for more information.
