Röyksopp
Bounty Hunters
Hollywood Records/American Recordings
From the Röyksopp home page:
...us paying tribute to Star Wars by performing our new track "Bounty Hunters". Unfortunately neither Greedo nor Boba Fett could attend the event,
but it turned out pretty good nonetheless...
In the vast universe of Star Wars - packed with quotable lines, iconic characters and equally iconic sounds, we felt it hard to choose which of these to bring in to the world of Röyksopp.
After much consideration, we opted for characters and sounds that really struck a chord with us as kids, thus making a track based on the rouge bounty hunters. And there's no way we would do
a Star Wars-track without the screaming TIE fighters. Fanboys and girls will also no doubt spot the infamous Greedo and Han Solo dialogue - and let there be no doubt; Han Solo shot
first...
The track is taken from the compilation album Star Wars Headspace with Rick Rubin as executive producer that has just been released for streaming and downloading. The physical version
will be around in March. As far as I understand the album pays homage to the first three original films that was launched in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which means episodes IV-VI. Röyksopp's
contribution is dominated by pulsating synths at a quick pace and distorted beats, with dialogues taken from Episode IV: A New Hope. Midway it takes off in the Millennium Falcon and
accelerates to the speed of light under the supervision of Han Solo and Chewbacca and into the void a floating sequence. The track sounds a bit primitive with those old-fashioned synth sounds.
I wonder what Rubin have added, if anything at all. On the other hand: serious fun!
