Glaswegian indie-rockers PAWS are soon to release their second album, Youth Culture Forever (due out May 6), as a follow-up to their 2012 debut, Cokefloat!. To promote their upcoming album they're waving this song called "Tongues", which is a bouncy, catchy piece of cool, guitar-driven indie pop-punk-rock with a punchy beat.

"Tongues" is a crunchy, tip-toe DIY rock track, by the young PAWS, who are singer/guitarist Phillip Taylor, drummer Josh Swinney and bass player Ryan Drever (who replaced original member Matthew Scott last year). PAWS raised from (according to themselves) the ashes of a 'Violent Femme-esque' band called A Copenhagen Hope. Come on, seriously, you can't call a band A Copenhagen Hope! Anyway, PAWS (yes, a much, much better name) are here, with their pop claws out. According to their label FatCat PAWS play "...infectious, lo-fi, garage pop-rock that can quickly shift from cute melancholia to an unnerving territorial roar". "Tongues" for sure is catchy and charming, sounding a bit like 'old-school' British indie pop/rock, and it makes me curious to check out some more of their songs. I might be disappointed, or I might be carried further on and up. Until then, "Tongues" is a lively and virile song. Party on.
