Glyn Bailey & the Many Splendid Things
Happiness
Self-released
Glyn Bailey has a unique style on his new album. The opener "When Love Calls" rebrands Scott Walker for a new era, but it has its own
dark heart. "Not Guilty" is a startling composition, about daring to accept responsibility. Bailey's backed by a fluid array of sounds
that make it just right.
"Whisky Time" is a seemingly merry drinking song with a raucous tune and a scathing lyric. He covers the traditional "John the Revelator"
in an inspired style. The apocalyptic lyrics fit right in with the album' s sound. The closing cover of Jacques Brel's "Amsterdam" is a
personal and fitting end to the album. Bailey is an intriguing artist and this is a great album.
