Aroeste Music
Sarah Aroeste sings in Ladino, a language she lovingly keeps alive and her lyrics concern weighty issues about human rights.
The opening title track tells of Dona Gracia Naci who saved Jewish families from the Inquisition in the 15th century. It's a fiery rock song with a gorgeous lead
vocal. "Chika Morena" sees the tale of a nomad girl becoming worn down by time, but retaining her spirit. It's a beautiful, reflecting song with a superlative lead vocal.
"La Comida La Manana" is a song based on a poem that celebrates women in all their innate strength and dexterity. Vanessa Hildary adds a potent spoken word bit to the
gorgeously evocative music. "El Leon Ferido" is based on a poem by Samuel Ha-Nagid a poet who faced many struggles in his time. The song encourages all to be brave like
a lion and is adventurous with a delightful vocal and strong guitar parts. It's a wonderful album that deserves all the attention it can get.
