In the future!'
40 years ago The Residents made sure we got in the right Christmas mood with a double seven inch single with four songs called "Fire", "Lightning", "Explosion" and
"Aircraft Damage". Apart from parts of the lyrics of the former, quoted above, a short "Jingle Bells" intro to the second and hymn outro of the latter, it seems to have
little to offer concerning the season we're dealing with. The message of "Aircraft Damage" was simply: 'Kick A Cat Today!'.
Santa Dog was The Residents' debut and the first offering by Ralph Records. Later on we were treated with nazis, inuits, moles, American composers, big bubbles,
hunters, demons, bunny boys and whatnot in the same cryptic manner. There even was a Santa Dog 78, Santa Dog 88 and Santa Dog 92. And if you check the home page of the disguised John Crawfish, Paul McCrawfish, Geoge Crawfish and Ringo Starfish, you'll find a brand new Santa Dog Forever 2012! [If you've got enough money you can even do quite some Xmas shopping - editor's note.]
Seasons greetings!
