Lauren Edman has a beautiful voice and puts it to good use on this lovely record. "Slate" sees her play a soft ballad, with some nice piano lines. Her expressive vocals are at their best here. "Sweet Girl" is a song with a bit of a punch, giving lie to appearances being all that matters. Edman's vocals remain on the sweet side. "Desperate Times" has a beautiful melody and a cool delivery by Edman that suits the words.

The closing "She's Not Here" sees her end the album on a good note, baring her soul in a ballad with a fabulous melody. Always watch the quiet one.
