I can't help but wonder if the title of this debut disc from this Vancouver
techno artist is meant to poke fun at the tendency of electronic music fans
(and critics) to slap a new description or label on every slight variation of
the genre that might come along. It's fitting, then, that the title should be
applied to an album of such variety. Opening with the minimal tech-house of
Anti-Matter Groove, the album progresses through lazy trip-hop, acid-tinged
jungle, headz-style downtempo and more before it reaches the closing notes. My
only complaint may be that too MUCH ground is covered, leaving the listener
feeling like he's spinning a compilation (albeit a really good one) rather
than a single artist release.
