John Paul Keith
The Man That Time Forgot
Fat Possum
John Paul Keith has a pleasingly retro sound on his new album. "Never Could Say No" hurtles along like a good-natured latter-day Tom Petty song. It's energy is infectious
and his vocal dead on. "Anyone Can Do It" is a wonderfully catchy song with a dynamite chorus that Keith handles well. He even gets away with rhyming 'hero' with 'zero'.
The title song is a sweetly sentimental song that Keith sings with ease. It's self-depreciating and loaded with uncomfortable truths and has a tune you won't forget.
"Somebody Ought To Write A Song About You" is a song with a lovely tune. Keith might sound retro, but his got his heart in the present and that's what really counts.
It's a terrific album.
