Persistence of Memory
Gabe Hizer
Gabe Hizer had a lengthy career working in the legal system before he turned his hand to music. The results are truly impressive on this album.
The opener "Memory" has all the emotional capacity it needs to linger in your mind. "The Ballad of Joey and The Battle of the Booze" is a humorous tale of a guy who
commits a crime and gets away with it. It's upbeat and jaunty despite the weighty message and that works just fine. "Searchin Outside for my Soul" is a bluesy contemplative
song with a fabulously raucous mood that Hizer handles well.
The closing "Paris Café" is a suitably romantic and sensitive note to end the album with. Hizer has made a gorgeous album.
