Mark Moldre's music gorgeously textured on this debut solo album after a career spent in bands. "In This Life" has an upbeat melody to frame a slightly darker mood in the words. Moldre has such a great voice and it shows so well here. "This Romantic Day" is a dreamy hush of a song, with a troubles heart. "Lifeboat" is another great song, Moldre singing a piano ballad with a lot of soul. "I'm drowning in this ocean of a lifetime filled with tears", he sighs forlornly.

"These Birds" is a jaunty song with typically dark lyrics; Moldre does that thing very well. This is a strong debut by a gifted singer.
