Dear Martin
The Dearest
Martin Edvar
Martin Edvardsson records electro pop as Dear Martin, and he clearly has a knack for creating catchy tunes and memorable lyrics. "Amercian in me" is a cute,
dead poppy tune with a chorus that lodges in the brain for days. "All time low" is a strident and appealing song that reminds me of Pet Shop Boys. The vocal
is suitably dreamy and the chorus catchy. "He's a Singer" is a gently undulating song that allows Edvardsson's soft vocals time to grow strong. It's like early
Jay-Jay Johanson with more of a pop heart.
"Compensate" ends the album on a bright, up-beat note. It suits the album well and sees Edvardsson deliver a little drama. It's a good debut in all.
