Mammut are a young band from Iceland, they are a riot and a half. Opener "Endir" careers away, catchy and irresistibly punky in a very Sugarcubes-like
fashion. Sorry to offer such predictable comparisons, but soaring female vocals in Icelandic do remind me of Björk's former band.
"Raudilaekur" is angular and yet has a persuasive rhythm and an accessible tune. The title song is a simple soft tune set to piano and allowing the singer
to show a softer, more subdued side. It works really well as can be expected. "Drekasöngvar" is a fall-like bruiser with an explosive tune. It's an exciting
and capable record that hopefully will be heard by many.
