Dax
Overnight Sensation
Haight Rite Records
Dax Perick was once part of the band De-hydrated but has been a solo artist for a while. His eighties-inspired material packs a mean punch, but is tuneful
and inspired too.
"Man Overboard" sounds like it belongs on an eighties station next to Tom Petty. It's catchy and likeable and Perick's vocals are raspy in the right way.
"The Deep End" is very radio-friendly and has sharp hooks aplenty. The string bit is well done. "Memorize My Love" shows a contemporary vibe as he sings poetically
of love and suicide. "I Remember" is pretty nicely accomplished as it reflects on a complicated relationship. Perick's vocal is appealingly expressive. It's
a very good record.
