Nick Hudson
The Elegy
Kiddiepunk Records
Nick Hudson has quietly been recording 13 albums since 2003. This effort is truly haunting, Hudson's hushed vocals submerged in grievous melodies.
"Bacchanalia" quietly dances around a sophisticated melody, perhaps meant to evoke ancient Greece. "Black Carnations" is a sorrowful yet poetic song,
where Hudson's vocals come to the fore. "Under the Mill" is a study in decay, Hudson's subtle approach barely hiding his sharp words.
"The Dream Distiller" is equally strange yet compelling, and softly sung. It's not an easy album to love, but it has a way of getting under the skin.
