Vanessa Peters sings brightly like Natalie Merchant or Edie Brickell but with more drive behind the words. The new album is a neat collection of songs about films and their influence on our lives.

"Love Story" chimes sweetly even as Peters sings of the complexity of love. "Such Good Actors" is a ballad with a good deal of Juliana Hatfield's lyrical smarts and ear for melody. "Moving Day" is a neat song, Peters singing of leaving a relationship behind to a soft melody.

"Bonnie and Clyde" is an up tempo song that comes across as very pleasing. Peters and her band have made a nice record.
