Roy Loney & the Longshots
Shake it or leave it
Career Records
Ron Loney once fronted the legendary Flamin' Groovies and his solo career follows an equally inspired path. After a remarkable solo outing in 2004 his new album shows he's hardly ready to retire.
He plays a rough but melodic rock and pens great lyrics. The steady rhythm and good time vibe of "Big Time love" could be a song by the Cramps. "The Great Divide" does a good job of showing Loney's sensitive side, he's penned a moving ballad and sings it with great soul. "Raw Deal" rocks like there's no tomorrow and shows the bands skill. We also get a song about Hamlet's brother Happy and more rock than you can shake a stick at. This is good old-fashioned fun in all.
