Penny Century
Between A Hundred Lies
Letterbox Records
Penny Century hail from the charming town of Östersund and their music is jangly and bittersweet. Julia Hanberg has the slightly pixie-esque vocal style of Nina Persson in the nineties.
"Nothing Burns Like Bridges" is a lovely duet and the celebratory feel is unexpected and sweet. "What I Never Learned To Say" chimes sweetly as Hanberg reaches new heights of indie icon cool. "Sounds Like a Melody" recalls the innocence of the nineties indie era in Sweden, when bright-eyed dreamers were popular. Penny Century have got the tunes and charm to be a long-term proposition.
