Serundal
Ab Initi
self-released
David King and his wife Maxie make up Serundal. Their new album is a concept about a forlorn king turned evil and his daughter. This music is very soothing and makes for a nice listen. The lead vocals are soft and pleasant and the backing folksy. The epic never feels forced, only unfolds gently.
"The Keening" happily recalls Renaissance and the more ambitious seventies prog era. Serundal are perhaps out of their time but they wear it well. Their album is lovely and deserves a wide audience.
