Call me Loretta / Nuit Noire
split single
Dead Bees
A good old-fashioned spilt single in pretty red vinyl. Ah. Warms the heart. Call Me Loretta's two tracks are sensitive indie with pretty distorted guitars and a nice line in introspection. "Each Dawn I Die" sounds like Sonic Youth's quieter moments and "Smart Heart" is a shivery Velvets-inspired track. The vocal has that blank Lou Reed-ness and the melody is sweet.
Buckle up for Nuit Noire's chaotic noise on the flip. It's black metal apparently. They speed through two songs ("In The Very Old Forest" and "Moonbath") and it's obvious they're good at what they do. It's just not my kind of thing. I much prefer Call me Loretta's music. Still, a very nice record in its own way.
