The Kooks
Inside In / Inside Out
EMI
A new British band, which at first reminds me of bands like Strokes, Supergrass and Hot Hot Heat. Keyword
for this album is simple love. It's a well-used prescription, but after a five six runs it seems to find its
place between the few successful records in the genre.
Most of the songs are up-tempo and there they show strength. The softer moments tends to be only honourable.
Different musical genres are present, like ska, reggae, funk and pop, which could have been an obstacle, but
here they manage well with wittiness and playfulness.
Stand out tracks are "See the World", "Sofa Song" and "Ooh La", which don't mean that the rest is bad, just
harder to enjoy instantly.
It's not a very important record, but it's enjoyable for its good moments.
