Static
Re: Talking About Memories
City Centre Offices

Hanno Leichtmann is Static. His brand of electronica is mournful and inventive. "Return of She" opens the album with Ronald Lippok's (Tarwater/To Rococo Rot) dry vocal against a bubbling backing. The cover of the Assembly's eighties hit "Never Never" retains the melancholy of the original but adds a contemporary twist. Christof Kurzmann's yearning vocal is on par with Feargal Sharkey's on the original. "Shift, Surge, Swell" is a jazzy strut that works well. The album ends with "The Moon had a Crack" a dreamy and sweet pop song. The forlorn vocal and soft backing makes it a superior cut. This is a very nice record.
