Wild Strawberries
Deformative Years
self-released

Roberta Carter Harrison and husband Ken Harrison have been releasing records as Wild Strawberries for many years now. Their latest album is one of their most assured yet. Opener "Waiting for the Future" is like Garbage in their calmer mood, Carter Harrison crooning to a soft beat. "No Way to Break my Heart" is a heavier piece while still retaining their melodic style. The group have made a record that's more of a rock album than anything they've done before.

"Drink You Down" sees them playing an instantly familiar, lovely ballad. "Your Love (All They Need)" is a song with an uplifting lyric and an anthemic chorus. "When the Fever Breaks" is a stirring and sophisticated song. Carter Harrison's vocal is gorgeous.

This might be their best album yet.
